Encloraging ourselves in the Lord

  "OUR EYES ARE UPON THEE"
2 Chronicles 20:12
"Our troubles dear Lord we bring to Thy feet,
Here we find comfort, rest truly sweet.
Thou knowest our frame, how frail Lord are we,
But Thou hast hast promised Thy servants shall be
Strengthened, according to the burden they bare
For themselves and others, whose trials they share.

When so much around us seem hopeless indeed,
And ‘tis easy to fall ‘neath the burden of need,
We bless thee that on thine omnipotent arm
We safely can lean and feel no alarm.
Thus onward we go with eyes fixed upon Thee,
All things are ordered by Thine own decree

Work out thy purpose, give wisdom and grace,
Thy promises true our hearts gladly embrace.
Storms rage all about us, winds rising high,
But safe and secure upon THEE we rely.
Mighty and glorious, strong Lord to save,
Thou stillest the tempest, the wind and the wave.

We bring our petitions, request now we make,
Knowing Thou wilt never Thy people forsake.
Bring glory to Thy Holy Name now we pray,
Our earnest desire is to walk in Thy way.
We bless Thee for ever for Thy love and care
Heartfelt thanksgiving thus ends now our prayer”

TURN ALL YOUR CARE INTO PRAYER

"Here it is proclaimed, Psalm 62:8, Trust in him at all times. Phil. 4:6, Be careful for nothing: but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. There cannot be a more large and comprehensive account of the matter of allowed addresses to the throne of grace, than this. The apostle prescribes prayer as a cure of perplexing care. He hints, that every thing that is, or may be the matter of care, may lawfully be made the matter of holy prayer. Turn your care into prayer; and the care will evaporate and vanish, and your cure will be felt. Blessed be the Lord, that hath made this good in the experience of many who have gone before him, with hearts filled and oppressed with many cares, and have returned light and free, and their countenance no more sad ; as Hannah, 1 Sam. 1:18."

Sunshine in Dark Times

It's a sunny day, the 28th of March 2020, and a lady is sitting at her computer in a little Sheltered Housing flat in just outside the small town of Newhaven, East  Sussex in the south of England.

She has a deep longing to share something uplifting with others, as the Covid-19 storm swirls away around the world, and her own world now seems very small indeed!

A smile lights up her face however, as she thinks upon the wonderful truth that even though the days ahead may look bright, the Creator of the Universe is in perfect control of everything, and He who by His glorious power upholds the stars, which His own Word brought into being, will not fail to uphold and bless those who know, love and trust Him, as she herself has done since she was eight years old, and now almost 80, can look back at the wonderful loving way the Good Shepherd has kept, guided and provided through the years.

It can be difficult to find the right words to express something, and maybe a poem can do that in a special way, and bring a message from the heart, do you agree?

I pray that every word, yes every line

Of all I write, should with God's glory shine

That those who read, might by it strengthened be,

More of the Saviour's glorious beauty see.

Though speak I off of all things here below,

It’s heavenly things I truly long to know,

Feely share with friends when thus we meet,

Together join in worship at His feet.

Rejoicing as we speak of things above,

Knowing the warmth and comfort of His love.

"I thank Thee Lord for those who speak to me

Who help from things of earth to set me free,

Bringing a message from Thyself to cheer life's way,

To help, instruct, encourage, so I pray,

Touch Lord my heart, and thus my pen,

Teach me THY WORD, THY WAY, and then

That which is written shall be blessed indeed,

Sent forth with grace to meet another’s need”

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the

morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof”

                                    Matthew 6:34

TOMORROW

Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow,
Does the though of it fill us with dread,
As we ponder upon some dark trial,
Which may lie on the pathway ahead?

Perhaps there are none to stand with us,
When life’s sore distress comes our way:
With faith sorely tried, it can’t be denied
It’s not easy to face the next day.

Fear not”, hear the voice of our Saviour,
Speaking gently to hearts faint and weak’
It is I, always with you to comfort,
Provide the resources you seek”

No matter how heated the battle,
No matter what others may say,
All has been planned, secure in his hand,
We’ll come safe to the end of the way.

What joy, there will be no tomorrows
On heavens blessed bright shore,
There ever to be, rejoicing and free,
Praising our Lord evermore.

For this God is our God forever and ever:
He will be our guide even unto death”
Psalm 48:14
